From the personal experience of quality education deprivation due to being the only girl- child amongst five boys to getting married to a man that was orphaned at just 11 years old, Whitefield Foundation came from a place of passion and commitment.
Whitefield started with free tutorial classes for students seeking admission into tertiary institutions, scholarship scheme and free I.C.T Training for students in public schools.
Educational support to public schools through provision of books, renovation of libraries and Mathematics & English Tutorial for final year students.
S.H.A.P.E (She Has Abilities, Postion & Equip her) is an empowerment initiative that has so far equipped 20,770 vulnerable and disadvantaged women and youth between ages of 18years and 45 years with relevant, commercially viable technical and vocational skills.
In the wake of increased spate of violence in the country as a result of protests, vandalization and all sorts, Project HSS was able to defray the medical bills of over 185 victims and empower 50 small businesses.
We distributed over 2,500 hand sanitizers and nosemasks to law enforcement agencies especially police officers in Lagos State. We also distributed raw food items to over 2,000 families in Lagos Mainland and widows of military officers.
The program was funded by The Coca Cola Foundation (TCCF) and empowered 74, 204 disadvantaged women and youth to gain entrepreneurship skills with grant award from 1, 100 trainees. The hybrid training modeled had beneficiaries from all 36 states and Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria.
An initiative named Operation LADDER (Laugh At Deluge, Drink, Eat and Rejuvenate) was launched by WF and partners to bring relief and support to flood survivors and their households.The operation reached 8,759 households (52,554 people indirectly) and provided seedlings to 2,800 small-holder farmers, 80% women, to restore their means of livelihoods.
Vocational Skill Training in partnership with All For Youth Nigeria laser focused on the unemployed youth in Lagos, Ibadan and Kano State. The training has so far graduated 876 trainees across Lagos, Ibadan, and Kano states. 37 top performing graduate trainees were given with startup toolkits like Full Make Up Kits, Massage Bed, Laptops, Electrical and Mechanical Toolkits.
The foundation now has a new logo to reflect the growth over the years and a refocus to achieve greater impact and enter new frontiers.
It's been 20years of impact that has reached over 340,000 beneficiaries directly and indirectly. Our vision is to reach 1million Nigerian youth and women directly and indirectly by the year 2025.
